July - An Important Message As We Celebrate Our Independence

From our V.P., Lynne Bunn:  Please see this amazing message from our service In July at the Douglasville Baptist Temple delivered by guest preacher, Danny West, from First Baptist of Douglasville.  He doesn't mince words about the state of our country and what truly it will take to get us back on track again. You can skip right over to the 17:45 mark where he begins preaching.  "... it is important that American Christians get back to doing what it will take to make this country great again. It isn't about a president. It's about a God who will give us that opportunity if we will seek Him."

SOUND OF FREEDOM MOVIE

If you have not yet seen "Sound of Freedom", please do so now.

EVERY PARENT AND MATURE ADULT IN AMERICA NEEDS TO SEE THIS.

This  is a very well done movie starring Jim Caviezel (from Passion of the  Christ fame) and covers a critical subject that has taken over the  world, surpassing all other crimes!  America is currently in the TOP of  all the countries participating in this heinous crime. WE CANNOT TURN A  BLIND EYE TO THIS PROBLEM that affects so many in our own back yard!

Based  on the gripping true story of a man's mission to rescue children from  the darkest corners of the world. This action-packed drama shines a  light on the harrowing reality of sex trafficking and the valiant  efforts of those who work tirelessly to combat it.

*UPDATE 8/15/23:  The Public Hearing on tax rate increase has been changed.  This is not what the board had originally posted.

"The  Douglas County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a 2023  millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 2.50  percent.

All concerned citizens are invited and may speak at the public hearing on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  regarding this tax increase to be held in Citizens Hall at the Douglas  County Courthouse at 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, GA 30134.

Time and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to be held in Citizens Hall at the Douglas County Courthouse at 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, GA 30134.

This tentative tax increase will result in the millage rate remaining the same at 12.563 mills, an increase of .307 mills.  Without this tentative tax increase,  the millage rate will be no more than 12.256 mills.  The proposed tax  increase for a home with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $25 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $225,000 is approximately $69."
